I'm mostly an organizer and facilitator. But this is an art website, so I'll stick to art. My art focuses mostly on the fursuits I make. I sculpt character heads and body shapes for them. I also dress, accessorize, and pose them in photographs.
Back in 1993 I created the Fursuit mailing list as a way to share information on making 'furry' animal costumes. From this, the fandom adopted the word 'fursuit' to refer to these costumes. Go fig. :-)
Samantha Kemple
In early 1996 I completed a costume of Samantha Kemple (character by Ken Sample cougr cougr). I retired her for a while, then I brought her back and now she's having a renaissance. Thanks everyone for the positive response!
For the benefit of those who have not yet had their first cup of coffee -- Samantha is a female character and I am male. I just want to make sure no one thinks I'm trying to trick them. Her shape is all padding and illusion. In the comments, I usually try to role play as Samantha unless the comment goes out of character. If you want more info on Samantha, visit
www.speakeasy.org/~rcking/sama…I should salute my inspirations for this suit: In addition to the art of Ken Sample, thanks go out to Ed Kline for the head approach, Lance Ikegawa for technical expertise, and vawlkee for his excellent pioneering female costumes and performance.
I have also created costumes of Kevin and Kell (characters by Bill Holbrook)(joint effort with Nicodemus and Kit Ping)
I haven't had much time to be artistic in the last few years. The closest I come is to direct the Furry Variety Show at Midwest FurFest. When my kids go off to college I'm hoping to get more active and actually make some more fursuits.
